Just a quick one, as my engine is out iv decided to get a couple parts reprayed to tidy things up, strut brace ends etc, I was wondering as I have a cheepy ETD wondered how to check if it works ok? I put all my weight on it to see if it moved but it doesn't budge, I realise it's got to be hard but a suspension damper will move this is rock hard, cud it be seized? Hmm

They are supposed to be solid mate. People think they are actual dampers but they aren't.

a new one will never budge dude its just a rod with small plastic end to it

if your going to do anything when the engine is out
buy some uprated engine mounts as your are proablly tired and old
jetwash the engine bay and check for rust

thats what i would do anyway
come winter im looking forward to ripping of the subframes and getting every bush done and lots of parts sandblasted and painted

seems like a few of us are doing this lol

i'd go for uprated engine mounts too, but the torque damper is a cheap way of stopping the engine from lurching when you come off throttle at high revs ;) - it will transmit more vibration through the cabin though and steering wheel
