Fuel gauge / Sender issue

Hi,

I have a slight issue with my fuel gauge or sender, basically fill the car up and it registers full on the gauge no problem and will continue to register the right amount of fuel until just below the half way mark.

As soon as the fuel level drops below half a tank, the gauge will drop rapidly within 5 miles to completely empty and the light will come on. If I fill up at this point I can only fit say 33 litres in the tank, so obviously there is fuel in there.

Has anyone else had a similar issue before?

no, but I would replace the sender and that should solve the problem.

Going to be buying a Walbro soon so will have a look then, anyone have a part number for the sender if its faulty not just come unhooked?

I know this is an old thread but did you ever get a part number for the sender?

No, I clipped mine back on inside the tank. The senders very rarely go wrong, just usually fall off.
