s15 Rear tyre width

Hey guys, this is prob a noob question, but like what is the widest tyre you can run on the s15 on the rear without having to roll the guards? Currently im running 255 on the rear and having no trouble. Just wondering if I would be able to run 275 or 285

wheel width/offset/tyre profile/tyre width will all affect clearance on the guards....255's on a 9.5 inch rim is a great setup - is that what you're running?

my rims are 17x9" and im running 255/40/r17 on the rear at the moment. Im wondering if I am able to run a wider tyre on these rims
