Fitted my new wheels

Fitted my Volks TE37, and here are some pics that I promised.

Not everything went as smooth as I thought it will though. Front looks spot on and no clearence issues what so ever.

But the back sticks out that much and it looks kind of weird. I was only worrying about the front ones and thought the back will be jus fine. With (17*9, offset +38), I was told they should go on ok.

And for some reason the last owner had a mess around with the camber and it look like the driver side rear wheels has positive camber instead of -ve , which result in looking like it sticks out even more.

Can anyone help me to see if I can change the camber to bring the wheels back in the arch or will that be too much -ve camber?? I love the wheels so much and really dont want to sell them.

Shall I ditch the rear rims and get soem new ones??

Are you sure they're +38? I'd have expected them to be tucked in much more than that if they were...

Is it standard height? You might be able to get the camber corrected enough if it is. If you lower it, there's no chance without adjustable rear camber arms.

I've got +37 on my 8J wheels. and they are perfect.
Did you buy them new from a dealer? If that's the case you could try and swap them for some new ones.

If not, I think the wheels can be machined to the right offset. don't know if it'll work on these expensive forged wheels though.

Mine are 8.5s on a +32 offset. The outside edge sits directly under the arch.

I bought those wheels from someone off a Skyline GTS. And I am 80% sure that it saids +38 on the sticker, unless there was a mistake there. But I also doubt that a skyline GTS with no wide arch at the back will have use any lower offset than S15.

Can you measure the offset yourself, if so, what you do??

Where can you get the camber adjusted, is it jus a normal tyre place.

I'm afraid it needs to be done at a specialist alignment place. They'll need to adjust other settings too.

If you are planning on lowering and fitting alignment kit on, I'd be inclined to get alignment done after that cos it ain't cheap.

Looking at that side view again, you've definitely got some serious positive camber...

I wont have the money to get the camber kit and lower suspension in near future so I best to get it align first. Can anyone recommend a place near Manchester for camber adjustment.

I am still thinking about getting the hub face machine to bring it in a bit. found out few people have doen that on MRC using these guys.

:no: Mine stick out further than that, although i have Neg camber, and alot of it :nod:

Seems to me your camber is way out, it can be adjusted via the standard bolts but not enough to get that under the arch :no: you may ahve something bent, a strut or other as it shouldnt be out that far :no:

I got a garage to check as well to see if somehitng was bent but he told me everything is straight so I am not too sure. Will get it to a alignment place to sort it out and may be changing the tyres to 245/40 as well.

Also can anyone tell me what is the most negative camber you can run on stanard suspension without lowering??

You can run as much negative camber as you like. However, the more you run, the quicker you'll be changing tyres. The recommended alignment settings are in Useful Threads.

You cant run as much neg camber as you like, you will be goverend by the adjustment in the standard upper arms :thumbs:
