I have a question with regard to changing the oil in a SR20DE engine, the World wide web seems to think that it should take 3.2 litres or 3.4 litres including Filter. I don't know if there are more than one Dipstick for these engines but I have the following issue.
Oil drained and filter removed with both oil filler cap and dipstick removed, engine at operating temperature. I fitted a New filter and put 2.8 litres of oil in the engine and ran it for 5-10 mins to check for leaks.
Switched engine off and allowed the oil to drain back to the sump, gave it about 15 mins and checked the dipstick ready to top up, but the reading on the dipstick was approximately 6mm over the high mark.
I don't want to do the engine any damage by running it with too much oil, but according to several internet sources I appear to be short 600ml of oil for a Oil & Filter change, I do not know what amount of oil is between the L & H markings on the dipstick but it seems very strange.
