Rear shock vibration demper?

anyone know what is does and if needed??

i think it eliminates the vibrations in the "not demped mass"/"unsprung mass" ?? (don't know the english translation)

i got Ohlins so recon they could be removed?!

Unsprung mass I believe would be the correct term. Would be interested to know people opinions on this. I've always refitted after swapping and upgrading the suspension, but would like to know whether I should have bothered.

I'd leave them on, I've seen them on other cars, attached to other parts. For example on the front brembos on an r32 golf.

I'm interested to know too, but no idea what the correct thing to do is. I've kept mine. It's not that heavy though and I can't imagine what's it's function really is or how much of an effect it has.
