Hi, i was wondering what the nissan recommended service interval was for the timing chain on an sr20?? Has anyone done this change, just that the other day one of my hydraulic lifters gave up so i'm ordering a set of them and i saw a complete timing chain kit for $185(£115) on special offer for today only (http://www.frsport.com/index.php?target=pages&page_id=currentoffers) and wondered whether it was worth getting. PS Engine has done 96000miles
Thanks for any help!!

Nissan don't schedule it at all but personally I would do it around 12yrs/100,000miles

Usually a chain is good for the life of the engine, in the service manual theres an inspection as said but ive never heard of an s13/14/15 snapping a chain

I think I really need to get the cam cover off and injectors upgraded over winter so will perform an inspection for completeness :)

I had mine changed as a precaution after 100,000 miles, I had changed the VVT sprocket too and then sold the car :annoyed:

There was a thread on SXOC about 12-18 months back of a member who's chain had snapped, I'll have a look for it this evening / tomorrow as I'm in work ATM & the net is ridiculously slow

The chain broke because two rocker arms came free and they did quite a bit of damage.
