Defi Link Oil Pressure Question

Fitted my Defi oil pressure and temp gauges at the weekend Noticed yesterday, though, that the warning light and buzzer for the oil pressure are on constantly after the engine is running. I know the warning goes off lower than what's set, but I set the warning at 8 bar and its going off constantly, whether at idle or a high revs...

The gauge appears to be working fine and displaying the correct readings. No evidence of oil leaks.

I'd sussed the warning with the engine off, as that's mentioned several times in the manual

Anyone had this?

wrote this at the SXOC thread too. But it could be nice to have here also.

I think you misunderstood me.
The warning is there to alert you to LOW oil pressure.
If you set the warning at 1 Bar it should go away.

After you know the idling pressure when engine is at operating temp. Set your warning a bit lower then that and all should be good

This is my setup (from memory) on my Greddy gauge.
oil pressure on startupwhen idling: about 5-6 bar
oil pressure when warm and idling: about 1.75bar
warning set to 1.5bar on the gauge

I would like to have another warning for high pressure (as my old oilfilter popped of when going way over the chart) but I don't think there's any gauges who support that at the moment.

I been watching my idle pressure and, after good long runs, it sits at around 1.5 kg/cm. I'm slightly concerned as you say yours is 1.75...

EDIT: Just read that thread you mentioned on SXOC and seen Papa Lazarou's readings.

The pressure depends on the oil you are using.

With Mobil 1 15/50 I get around 6 kg/cm (85 psi) pressure at idle when cold.
About 2 kg/cm (29 psi) pressure at idle when warm.
About 1.5 kg/cm (21 psi) pressure at idle when HOT (over 100 degrees)
And around 5 kg/cm (71 psi) at 3000 rpm when warm.

Car normally warms up to a steady 80 degrees C (175 f) with town driving.
Sits at around 95 (203 f) with moderate motorway driving.
A fast motorway drive with short periods on boost raises temps to 110 degrees C (230 f).

This sounds virtually the same as me :nod: Also, just realised that 1 kg/cm is less than 1 bar... So your idle is the same too

I think my gauge also reads kg/cm. not sure though.
I get about 1.75 when oil is @ about 85 degrees C.
But every car is different so pressure will vary from car to car I suppose.
I wouldn't worry as long as the pressure isn't stupidly low or high.

if my memory isn't playing a trick on me, i think I also got 1.5 after a spirited highway drive. oil temp was a bit over 100 degrees C then which is scaringly easy to get to when going a bit faster.

I was totaly wrong. My gauge reads 1.5 Bar when oil is @ operating temp. :thumbs:

I was wrong too. My gauge is in KPa x 100. This is the same as Bar.
