What's a catalytic converter??

Depends on your tester mate? If it's straight 3" pipe you won't pass unless he's friendly

Ah it's a bit like that is it! Fair enough.

I heard there was a law that meant Japanese imports before a certain year didn't need a cat for the emissions test. Not sure if that's correct though...

I have a nismo sports cat but the guy told me its hollow, think its been blown out the exhaust lol It still passed the MOT but didn't get an emissions thing, there is no program for the S15 in the UK so he couldn't do a proper test anyway. The only silvias on the list were old late 70's early 80s ones & the 200sx goes up to the S14.

I just got my mot done a few weeks ago. Mines went through as a 180sx.

As well, a point worth noting, apparently new this year is cars can be listed as imports and this allows a wider band to get the emissions through.

Normally I've got to mess about with the fueling on the power fc but went straight through this time with just the cat.
