S15 buyer HELP!

Hi guys, I just put a deposit on this http://www.torque-gt.co.uk/cardetails.php?c=73 I would like ur thots. I went to have a look at it today and it is truly immaculate and very sexy. I'm coming from a 2002 Civic type r which is 245hp 178kw 169lbs/ft, cammed and bored to 2050cc, decat, 4-2-1manifold and induction kit with custom remap. I test drove the Silvia and it wasnt as fun to drive. The turbo doesnt have the kick i expected...it felt like a very linear torque curve with gradual smooth power delivery:eek: was it just me or is that how a standard S15 is? Im hoping a trip to Horsham Developments will sort that right? Oh and there is a razo gearknob in it that is just absolutely PANTS!! it feels like some cheap plastic cover over the shift stick...so if sumone could point me in the direction of a nice comfy gearknob that would be nice. I decided to go ahead coz I've wanted a turbo RWD car for AGES now and this looks so sexy. However the interiors arent too impressive. Any input wud be great! CHEERS GUYS!

Yes, a standard S15 is designed to deliver smoothly than a punch in the stomach feel when you hit the gas pedal hard. This is so that your Grandmother can drive it, too.

But you'll get a hell lot of differences after you start your mods!

What you are paying for (stock) is a well sorted low compression engine (ready to take bigger turbo + others) on a well sorted sub 1300kg, RWD chassis that is 55:45 in Weight distribution and has the looks of a sexy coupe at a next to nothing price.

One man's poision is another man's meat....so all mods will add and take away something else.

Boys build powerful rides, but a man builds a balanced car!

Could even have a boost leak somewhere. As comming from 245/169 N/A I would of thought you would of noticed it pick up at around 3-4k. It has not been heard of before for cars to have boost leaks off the boat.

Did you notice what the the stock boost guage was getting too in 3rd/4th/5th/6th etc?

Yeah.
i did corner weight balancing and found out that my car weights 53:47.
I'm using the Nismo teflon gearknob for smooth gearshift and looks.
Anything metalic will be a bitch to use after the car has been parked under the sun for a while.

it was going up round 3/4 of the way i think....i did notice the pick at 3-4K rpm but still not the kick i imagined. I just probably had REEEEALLLY high expectations of the car.

Oh yea i'd just like to mention the car had yellow springs and blue shocks...any idea what brands they could be? It has Re-050 tyres on the rear and Re-01 on the front....any reviews on these tyres? Cheers!

I stockish S15 has a very linear power curve. You won't get much of a boost kick. Feels more like a 6 cylinder.

But an EBC, air filter and exhaust should transform the car pretty good.
FMIC and remap on top of that and it should pull very good :)

True :)
6-cylinder engines generally sounds alot nicer :D
But also use more fuel.

£10-12k seems to be the going rate for fresh imports.

Yellow springs and blue dampers probably means you have the NISMO suspension kit that was a dealer fit option. Spring rates are 2.0→3.0 front and 2.2→3.2 rear and a 30mm drop all round
