Decat Pipe - Will this do?

Hiya,

Just wanted to check whether this decat pipe looks ok for the S15? Has anyone had experience of Autobahn88??

Also, is it good to retain the cat sensor or as some sites say, does this restrict performance? This pipe looks like it has opening for sensor attachment etc.

does your stock cat have a sensor attached? a few months ago, i was about to order the same cat, but after checking the stock cat, i noticed there wasn't a sensor plug on it.. ended up ordering a resinated decat without the bung.

I wouldnt buy anything autobahn 88 man, just do a search for s14a decat or pick up a good one second hand from the sxoc. Alternatively there are jic majic ones on rhd japan for around 100 euro with bolts and gaskets.

Any S13 or R33 decat should be the same size. Ive got an S13 one from APEX.

Edit - I think R32 & R34 are same size as well ?

Jez - was gonna but one from Apex but when I phoned, they were asking what size the S15 decat is cos they weren't sure which one to send me :wack: So being lazy, I never measured it and just thought I'd go for eBay item lol...

I will let them know it's the same as S13 and R33 and get one ordered today!!

I know the lenght of the stock cat is somewhere on this forum.
Think it was 315mm. But I would do some searching before ordering anything.

Edit: *doh* Just remembered I've got a stock cat in my kitchen. I'll measure it for you.

edit2: Yepp, 315mm from one side to the other. Gaskets not included.

Is the decat better than a resonator? As I still want to keep my car quiet and not sure how noisy this might be?

I'd imagine a decat will make any car a fair bit louder...


Also keep forgetting to ask but is there a middle silencer which always get retained - even with a decat??

I have a Trust Power Extreme II exhaust with new elbow, front pipe + decat and its not too loud. Nice and quiet on tickover but screams at high revs. My exhaust is Jasma rated though for 93db so anything like a Blitz Nur Spec may annoy the neighbours with a straight decat, not to mention it will be droney as hell.

The middle silencer you are seeing is probably on the front section of the exhaust. The APEX S13 decat has no silencer as its just a straight through bit of pipe. You can get decats with silencers though.

Yeah had a feeling the decat was replacing just the cat and nothing else... it is only 315mm after all lol...


Will be interested to see if mine makes the exhaust note slightly louder although prob not much difference cos I've got the HKS Silent Hi-Power.

i've got hks silent hi-power mate ad with the decat its not too loud at all, on tick over its got a nice sound and when your on the move it does pick up a bit. the biggest difference i found was fitting a tubular manifold, gives it a nice burble

fitted myself a decat pipe there, no louder at all just a nice hum on deceleration, it did backfire today too i thought i was after breaking something
