Hello and welcome :)

i took the liberty of relocating your post to a new thread.

You should buy a Spec-R :D
They are better on many points.
And they are sellable in Europe unlike the Spec-S which probobly would be very hard to sell.

The guy who helped me with the UK registration had a Spec-S and couldn't get rid of it. Ended up selling it for about ?3500
That was a very good condition low mileage example and a very rare colour too (baby-blue).

You should be able to get a good example for ?14000.
I don't know the prices to get a car road legal in Ireland.
But if it's like in the UK (about ?1300) you should be able to find a good example.

Have a look at the usefull threads section for more advice :)

hi theres a few guy's in north dublin letting 99 spec-s's go for around that sort of money, but they seem fairly standard to be honest. but i think there is a red well specced one coming in last week. i can find out more details if you want.

tom.

The Spec S may look similar to an R, but there are significant differences underneath (not just a turbo). It won't handle or brake anything like an R, for example. However, if its the S15 look that you want, along with a mildly warm engine, the S will give you it. :)

Even though you cant afford the turbo now that doesnt mean you cant mod the brakes and lsd along with a new motor or a de+t in the future if you really want boost.

Boost isnt everything

And suspension... :p

DO NOT buy from Demon Tweeks unless you have nothing better to do with your money. Buy direct from Japan or from the UK 200SX specialists (many parts are the same as the S14).

personal opinion - do it once and do it right. If you really want a specR but can't afford it now - simply wait until you can - you won't regret it. If you buy a spec S, pour heaps of cash into it, and then still aren't happy, you'll probably sell it and then buy a specR anyway. Except, this way, you'll lose money on your mods and depreciation from the swap over. Go the Boost!

A bit late in the day, but I'd agree with that. I went with the :ghey: option of a spec-S with auto trans!!! (compared with my 650rwhp man trans 300zx it was a very tame option).

I have, however, slowly (so the wife doesn't get overly investigative) built up handling engine and drivetrain. It is a gorgeous car anyway - and you can change everything anyway. I'd be interested to see what people think my Spec S is lacking compared to a spec-R by the time I'm finished with it :)

do it once, do it right I say. Sure, you can always retrospectively fit this and that, but in the end, it'll cost you a bucket of cash more and it won't be worth as much as the original you are trying to mimic - ie spec R.

But hey - your money, your car - if it makes you happy - go for it. Just my two cents. :indiff:
