I've done alot of looking into it and there is a massive thread in the scots sxoc about it, seems its not as easy as you say, the tow car has to heavier than the total MAM of the trailor, which means if the trailers total MAM is 2000kg's, but your only carrying 1240kg's (S15), you still need to have a car that weights more than the 2000kg's MAM, BUT you not allowed to exceed the 3.5tons you stated.
The above applies to anyone who passed their test after 97, so that'll be all but Nicely then :wave:
