cleaning a MAF

ok well i got a z32 maf for free by stripping it from a mates breaker. The problem is its a little dirty and now im wondering what is the best way to clean it? Also is there a way to test and see if its working?

A can of brake cleaner should sort it. Its just the wire in the centre bit you need to worry about.

I've never sprayed anything else other than Mines MAF Cleaner (comes in an aerosol can) on my Z32 MAF hotwire.

All of those types of cleaner are designed to evaporate very quickly and not leave any residue, so they're much of a muchness. Brake cleaner is used extensively by people on SXOC without issue
