fuel rail return line question

When I was installing a aftermarket fuel pressure regulator, i had to cut the return line hose shorter for fitment reasons.

Upon doing so, I noticed that the hose has restrictors inserted inside the hose. I assume these are placed inside the hose for fuel pressure related reasons. Just in case, i reinserted it back in the hose, but i was wondering whether these are required with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

I found a pic online from a japanese website of these restrictors. Hopefully, someone can give me some insight on these things.

It has to be on the return feed?

I replaced the hose when I fitted my SARD fpr with no issues :)

I was under the impression it could be on either but if it was on the feed then you'd need restrictors.

If it's on the return then I see no reason why you'd need the restrictors unless they were to prevent air lock or something

Thanks for the responses.

I have the fpr installed on the return side. Btw the fpr is sard, so its good to know that i can replace the hose without issue
