This last one is inside the clutch housing. I'm guessing the next question you're gonna ask is, "can someone point out where the circlip is that causes the problem?"



Well, i'm not 100% and i'm pretty sure nicely will confirm cause he's had the dreaded problem. that it's the one you can see in this last picture, on the counter shaft!

I've not actually done it myself, but I am informed that it should be the snap ring between the counter drive gear and the 4th counter gear in the Counter Gear diagram.

man that is hard to follow have been shown around the inside of a few quaife gearboxs for rwd rally cars but that diagram just looks crazy!

Topper, exactly what needs to be done to it, actually replace the snap ring with a thicker and more sturdy one and groove the area to suit the new one? Has anyone actually done this with success or is it hearsay?

Yes, its been done with success. Unfortunately, the guy who did it hasn't been on here, nor NS.com, for ages.

But i think what you'ce said sounds about right, its all about making it more secure.
